The Society provides a forum for practising statisticians in Hong Kong to exchange research findings and opinions in advancing knowledge and enhancing appreciation of the theory and application of statistics. It has about 300 members, mainly comprising training and/or research professionals and students in institutions, government statisticians, and people having keen interest in the development of statistics.

 

The Society provides a forum for practising statisticians in Hong Kong to exchange research findings and opinions in advancing knowledge and enhancing appreciation of the theory and application of statistics. It has about 300 members, mainly comprising training and/or research professionals and students in institutions, government statisticians, and people having keen interest in the development of statistics. It also offers the professional qualification of Certified Statistician (CStat) and a range of examinations.

There are three main types of membership available, Full Member, Student Member and Corporate Member. The Society also has a professional wing and Full Member may apply for the status of Certified Statistician. A good university degree, or equivalent, in statistics, or the Graduate Diploma of the Society, together with at least five years' experience in a statistical job, will be required. Anyone with the necessary academic level for CStat, but less than five years' experience, may apply for the qualification of Graduate Statistician (GradStat).

Those wishing to register for the Society's examinations may apply for Full Membership, Student Membership, or alternatively apply for membership as an Examination Associate.
